In 1999, Fang Da was the first company to mass produce semiconductor wafers and chips in China. With support from national and local level government, Fang Da has been able to persevere and grow over the years from initial core activities consisting of wafer fabrication, chip production and packaging to design and production activities to include lighting products, scenic display lighting systems, backlight systems and indoor/outdoor full-color display systems. For this, Fang Da is renown throughout the mainland as one of the top enterprises in China.

The company primarily focuses on the production of wafers for blue, green and violet chips, anti-ESD and anti-intensity decay horizontal, vertical and flip-chips with different dimensions, different specifications of high-powered LEDs, multi-purpose functional lighting boards, bars as well as numerous types of backlight systems, many kinds of lighting equipments, along with a diverse range of digital curtain wall full-color lighting systems and indoor/outdoor full-color display systems.

Our core research efforts are directed towards improving wafer and chip production through the continual value-adding process of increasing chip lighting efficiency. This is achieved by combining unique yet diverse design techniques of packaging, lighting products, light sources, and display systems, especially elements such as water-proofing, UV-protection and heat dissipation in order to usher in the next generation of semiconductor lighting technology and systems.

Within the 10th 5-year plan, Fang Da has taken on and achieved the aim of streamlining production of national semiconductor lighting technology and interests, while also carrying out successful research and development on the "Tiger" range of semiconductor lighting chips which has received acclaim as one of China's up-and-coming products of 2006. Under the government "863" scheme, Fang Da has completed development of the wafer thinning technologies received the 2004 Shenzhen City Technological Achievement Runner-up Award. Fang Da semiconductor lighting equipment was also listed as one of China's up-and-coming products of 2005. The Shanghai Citibank plaza lighting display developed, designed, manufactured, assembled and serviced by Fang Da, also received commendation at the 2006 at the inaugural National Semiconductor Lighting Competition for applied creativity and innovative design. Fang Da is also holds the chair for the Shenzhen semiconductor lighting industrial development and collaboration association established in 2006 while also offering post-doctorate enterprise opportunities, ensuring Fang Da's position as a centre for the harnessing and development of semiconductor lighting technology. Within the 11th 5-year plan, Fang Da has taken responsibility over the national "863" project for "High efficiency high-power GaN based chips and white LED fabrication technologies", Guangdong Province technology scheme for "GaN based epi-wafers with surface roughness grown by MOCVD for blue LEDs" and Shenzhen City technology scheme for "80 mil high power LED chips for semiconductor lighting applications".
