Tianshui Great Wall Electric Group Co., Ltd. (GWE), transformed from former Gansu Great Wall Electrical Equipment Corp., is a state-owned large-sized class I enterprise. It is one of the top five manufacturing bases of electrical equipment in China. GWE consists of Tianshui Great Wall Switchgear Factory, Tianshui Great Wall Electrical Control Apparatus Factory, Tianshui Great Wall Electrical Equipment and Material Factory, Tianshui Great Wall General Electrical Equipment Factory, Tianshui Great Wall Precision Molds Factory, Tianshui Great Wall Spring Factory, Tianshui Electric Drive Research Institute, Tianshui Great Wall Electrical Test and Research Institute, GWE R&D Center and 13 other enterprises with collective-ownership. GWE ranks No. 839 among top Industrial Enterprises in China No. 63 among top Industrial Enterprises in Electrical Machinery and Equipment Manufacturing Industry in China No. 93 among top 100 Enterprises under the Ministry of Machine-building Industry of China and No. 16 among top Industrial Enterprises in Gansu Province.

GWE is a manufacturing complex of electrical equipment with voltages up to 35kV, such as high- and low- voltage electrical apparatus, switchgear, drives and controls, automation systems, electrical alloy materials and precision molds, totaling more than 4, 000 varieties of products. Newly-developed products include epoxy cast dry type transformer, reinforced-insulation busway, compact substation, 10kV ring main units, operator-free transformer station, Series CJ35 AC contactors, DW45 intelligent low-voltage air circuit breakers, wholly-digital DC speed regulator system, which are pace leaders in China.

GWE enjoys advanced processing facilities, e. G. Flexible manufacturing system for steel sheet, welding robots, laser cutting machines, high-capacity thermosetting injection molding machine, contact welding machines and many types of machining centers. CAD/CAM technology has been employed in design and manufacture of HV/LV equipment and precision molds. There is a local area computer network running in its headquarters.

GWE is a combination of well-skilled professionals in research and development, production and testing. Among its design and engineering team of 1265 people 121 and 370 are senior and medium technical titleholders respectively. Some 28% of its people are technical titleholders.

GWE R&D Center is the key body focusing on R&D. It is also a R&D center of provincial level. There are five divisions within the Center.

GWE is one of the few companies in China who can provide turn-key projects for electrical control systems. It has gained rich experience in such projects as for drilling rigs, rolling mills, cranes and mine hoists, in such projects as high- and low-voltage electrical installations in large and medium-sized thermal power stations and in engineering, manufacture and field commissioning of industrial process automatic control system.
